Kofi Adams campaign against NPP

Campaign Coordinator of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has described as “senseless” claims that the voters register for the December 7 polls is bloated.

In his view, the claims by the opposition political parties especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the electoral roll is bloated, is a propaganda by the party to cast a slur on the integrity of the Electoral Commission (EC).

His comment follows a call by three political parties calling for a postponement of the elections due to what they say is a bloated register.

The flagbearers of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Peoples National Convention (PNC) and National Democratic Congress (NDP) in a statement believe due to the nature of the register the election will not be free and fair.

But Kofi Adams on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday said, the issues being raised by the opposition political parties is much ado about nothing.

He indicated that, if parties don’t assist the EC in cleaning the register, the EC on its own cannot remove any name including those dead from the roll.

Mr. Adams who is also the National Organizer of the NDC contended that, these smaller parties have decided to treat the issue in the public domain rather than sorting things out with the EC in a more refined manner so as to a create a platform to let the public have the perception that the ruling party intends to rig the December election.

He said it will be electorally’ hazardous for a particular political parties to consistently create an erroneous impression in the minds of the public that the EC was conniving with a named party to steal the verdict of an election.

Kofi Adams called on well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore such ugly noises and vote massively for President John Mahama to continue his good works.
