My General Secretary is a thief – Hassan Ayariga

Hassan Ayariga

The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has alleged that the ‘sacked’ general secretary of the party is a thief who is on a wanted list.

Hassan Ayariga alleged on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Monday that Razak Kojo Opoku stole an amount of GHC50,000 from the leader of the United Front Party (UFP), Kwasi Addae ‘Odike’.

An enraged Odike ‘came with some people to arrest’ Kojo-Opoku but he (Ayariga) pleaded on his behalf, he added.

“He is a thief, he stole 50,000 cedis from Odike, Odike wanted to arrest him but I saved him…,”Ayariga alleged in reaction to accusations made against him and the party by the ‘sacked’ scribe.

It is not clear if the said amount was ever paid back.

Confusion has rocked the leadership of the APC which was formed by Hassan Ayairga after he broke away from the People’s National Convention (PNC) after failing in his bid to lead the party as flagbearer for a second time.

While Razak Kojo Opoku, Ayariga’s running mate who also doubles as the party’s Vice Chairman of the party, Emmanuel Carl Bartels, and the leadership of the party have endorsed the NPP and its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ahead of the December polls, Hassan Ayariga is also set to endorse President John Mahama and the NDC.

The split has led to accusations and counter accusations by the two camps.

And it is in the heat of this that Hassan Ayariga is claiming his former scribe is a thief who is wanted for stealing 50,000 cedis from Odike.

Ayariga further claimed that he is prepared to go into the gutters with the former scribe whom he said came in like a ‘cleaner in his office.
