Lil Twist was sentenced to a year in jail on Wednesday for allegedly beating and robbing Chris Massey in a November 2014 attack. At one point, Twist was facing a maximum of 25 years behind bars. But after pleading no contest, the rapper will now get one year in jail, and could be released in as little as six months.
As reported at the time, after an earlier dispute, Twist went to Chris’s brother Kyle’s home in Los Angeles and reportedly violently pummeled the former “Zoey 101” actor before allegedly stealing his cell phone and wallet. Chris was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
In March 2015, Twist was charged with six felonies stemming from the brutal attack, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, battery, burglary, grand theft, and making criminal threats. Following his plea bargain, Twist now has a little more than two months to turn himself in and begin his sentence.
Twist, as also previously noted, has had a number of past problems with the law. In 2013, he was pulled over twice in one of his former friend Justin Bieber’s cars. The second time resulted in an arrest for DUI. Twist was also accused of battery by a young woman who alleged he became violent with her at a Bieber house party.
