3-year-old twins forced to get married in India

Parents of a set of twins — one boy one girl — have decided to marry them to each other because they fear impending death.

The three-year-old siblings are believed to be ”soulmates in a past life” and their parents chose to have them marry to ward off bad luck.

The incident which took place in Thailand saw brother and sister, Teekatat and Tawisa Hiranmekawanit tie the knot in a traditional ceremony

The parents believe the toddlers were lovers in a past life but a terrible tragedy separated them. They then reincarnated as twins and now they have to get married so that the “angels” will know they are in love and will be together forever.

They believe the twins were lovers in a previous life

Mother of the bride and groom, Sasi, said, ”they must get married otherwise one of them will die. We provided the wedding ceremony according to our belief that in the olden days the boy and girl twins were soulmates but couldn’t stay together. They were reborn again in this life, they were reborn as boy and girl twins.”

Villagers and family members attended the ceremony to celebrate with the married couple.

The twins are not officially married by law

Sasi said, “As parents, we must provide the wedding to let the angels know that the twins are happily in love and will be together forever. It is an ancient belief to show the angels they are in love and will never stay apart.”
