Government urged to protect Local Constructors


constructionThe general manager of Lidus construction Mr. Mustapha Acheampong has expressed concern about the award of major contracts in the country to foreign contractors at the expense of local contractors.
 He said the building and construction industry continued to attract many multi-national companies that had dominated the industry, leaving local contractors “with little space to operate”.
He expressed  concern to media during the launched of Lidus construction, says some of these foreign contractors compete with local contractors for the construction of school buildings and culverts are going to increased unemployment rates in the country.
He therefore challenged the government to offer more building contracts to local contractors, since they have the capacity to deliver equal or even better quality work than their foreign competitors.
He added local contractors  was committed to work and have qualified engineers and the human resource who are serious to work.
Awarding contracts to  constructors will will help to reduce unemployment situation in the country.
